The number of Ukrainian tourists in Georgia to 2018 amounted to 177 thousand, which is 2.5 times the number of tourists from Ukraine in comparison with 2012.
This was announced by first Deputy head of the National tourism administration of Georgia Rusudan Mamatsashvili during a meeting with Ukrainian journalists in Tbilisi at the end of last week.
Citing a forecast by the National tourism administration of Georgia it is said that in 2019 the number of tourists from Ukraine will amount to approximately 187 million people.
Most visited places among Ukrainians in 2018 was Tbilisi, Batumi and Kakheti (East Georgia) and Kazbek.
According to Mamatsashvili, the growth of tourist flow from Ukraine to Georgia contributes to the information campaign of her country.
“Overall, Georgia in 2018 received 8.7 million tourists. Earnings from tourism amounted to approximately $3.2 billion,” she said, noting that last year Georgia has spent on tourism marketing, $11 million
As reported with reference to the Ambassador of Georgia in Ukraine, Gela Dumbadze, the tourist flow from Ukraine to Georgia will grow more than twice – up to 400 thousand.
“The number of tourists from Ukraine to Georgia can and should grow to 400 thousand people. I would like emphatically to say: Georgia is a safe country. Now from Ukraine to Georgia come 170 thousand tourists per year, I’d like to see more. In Georgia, the Ukrainian tourists are always greeted with a big smile and a special attitude,” he said.
