The total number of trade restrictive measures taken by third countries against goods and services from the European Union, for the year 2018, increased by 45, to a record $ 425 trade barriers, according to the annual report of the European Commission.

According to a member of the European Commission for trade Cecilia Malmstrom, the main growth of trade barriers occurred in China, but also USA, India and Argentina. Restrictive measures affected European exports billions of dollars. The Commissioner said that such measures are unjustified and unacceptable.

Currently in China, there are 37 measures limiting the export from EU countries, in Russia – 34 such barrier. Indian authorities imposed a 25 protectionist measures, the government of Indonesia – 25, US – 23.

However, the European Commission reported on the 35 elimination of trade barriers over the past year, including restrictions on the import of European beef to China, the Russian duties on European trucks, additional fees for importing electronics in India and restrictions on the supply of textile products to Egypt.

The most popular trade barriers include tariffs, restrictions on imports, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, import licensing or outright bans on the supply of a product.
