TASS, may 14. Court of arbitration for sport (CAS) in Lausanne has decided to increase the period of disqualification striker of the national team of Peru on football Paolo Guerrero to 14 months, with the result that the striker will miss the world Cup 2018 in Russia. About it reports a press-service of the court.

November 3, 2017 Guerrero was suspended by the International football Federation (FIFA) for 30 days after it became known that the doping test of the player handed in after the match of the qualifying tournament of the world Cup with Argentina (0:0) October 6, has tested positive for a banned substance. Later, the media reported that the body of a football player had traces of cocaine. In December FIFA decided to disqualify him for one year, however, the player filed an appeal, which was allowed in part, in the end, the period of disqualification was six months.

Later the World anti-doping Agency (WADA) appealed to CAS . WADA demanded to disqualify the player for a period of one to two years. CAS partially upheld WADA’s appeal and increased the term of the suspension 34-year-old to 14 months.

Guerrero has played for national team Peru 83 matches in which he scored 32 goals, which is the best result in team history.
