The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine congratulated the Ukrainian government with the International court of justice ruling on the recognition of the existence of its own jurisdiction to consider the matter of the application and interpretation of the International Convention for the suppression of the financing of terrorism and the International Convention on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination.

“We congratulate Ukraine with the International court of justice decision on the recognition of its jurisdiction in the case of Ukraine against Russia. This is an important step towards the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity and democracy of Ukraine and bring Russia to justice for their actions”, – said the press service of the Embassy in Facebook.

As reported, the international court of justice acknowledged the existence of its own jurisdiction to consider the matter of the application and interpretation of the International Convention for the suppression of the financing of terrorism and the International Convention on the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination. Thus, the court refused to consider objections of the Russian Federation about the presence of the court’s jurisdiction in this case.
