TASS, 29 Dec. Russian Sergey Karyakin is in first place after the first day of competition at the world blitz championship. The tournament will be held in the Saudi capital Riyadh.

Friday took 11 of the 21 round of the world Cup, the remaining games will be played on Saturday.

Karjakin scored 9 points, second place is Frenchman Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (8,5). In third place is another Russian Peter Svidler (8). The winner of the world chess crown, the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen is the 13th (7), Russian Alexander Grischuk – 11-m (7.5), Alexey Dreev – 12-m (7), Ian nepomniatchi – 17-m (7), Sergey Grigoryants Vladislav Artemiev share 30th place (7 ).

In the women’s tournament after the first day, the leader of the Swedish Pia Cramling, the second is the Georgian Nana Dzagnidze, the third – the Russian Valentina Gunina.

The world blitz championship will end on 30 December, the winner of the men’s tournament will receive $750 thousand, female – $250 thousand.
