TASS, August 20. The Russian team won one gold, one silver and five bronze medals in the first competition day of the summer Universiade in 2017 in Taipei.

The first medal of the Russian team at the Universiade gold. Roman Izmaylov and Nikita Schleicher became Champions of the University games in synchronized diving from a ten meter tower. Silver won the women’s national team of Russia on swimming in part of Maria Kameneva, Polina Lapshina, Anastasia and Arina Guzenkova Openysheva in kraevoy relay 4×100 m. Men’s team of Michael Vekovischev, Andrey Arbuzov, Sergey Fesikov and Nikita Korolev was the third in the same race.
Three bronze medals in the asset of the Russian judoists. Aleksandra Babintseva won the medal in weight category to 78 kg. Also won the award Niyaz Bilalov (up to 100 kg) and Anton Braces (over 100 kg). The Russian men’s team in gymnastics composed by: Vladislav Polyashov, Alexei Rostov, Daniel Kazachkova, Ilya Kibartas Cyril and prokopeva won the bronze medal in the team competition.
In the unofficial team standings, the Russians occupy fifth place. On the first line is the DPRK team won three gold and two silver medals. In second place are the Japanese (3-1-1), the third – the team of South Korea (2-2-2). Russian team is leading after the first day by the total number of medals won (seven), ahead of the Americans and the South Koreans, who won six awards.
The Russian delegation at the Universiade-2017 consists of 517 people, of which 348 – athletes. The competition will end on August 30.
