The Supreme court closed the proceedings on the claim of religious organizations to abolish the decree of the Verkhovna Rada from 19.04.2018 “On the support of the President of Ukraine to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the granting of the Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.”

“April 25, 2019, the Supreme court considered the case and came to the conclusion that it has no signs of cases of administrative jurisdiction”, – said in a statement on the website of the court on Facebook on Thursday.

Currently announced only the operative part of the decision. The full text is expected over the 5 days.

As reported, on April 17, 2018, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced his intention to appeal to the Archbishop of Constantinople, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s call to issue a Tomos on a single local Orthodox Church in Ukraine, and urged Parliament promptly to support his initiative.

On April 19 people’s deputies supported President’s address to the Ecumenical Patriarch on the granting of the Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

15 December, Kyiv hosted the unity Council, which was created by the Orthodox Church of Ukraine headed by Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine, Epiphany (Dumenko). February 3 took his enthronement.

5 January 2019 Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed the Tomos of autocephaly ptsu, 6 Jan handed the document to Metropolitan Epiphanius.

The Kyivan Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church of Ukraine) was registered on 30 January 2019.
