The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the system of nuclear non-proliferation should continue, but security guarantees in the framework should be more effective.
“I believe that the system of non-proliferation (of nuclear weapons – Interfax) in the world must exist. I believe that the world will not be safer if every country, including North Korea will have nuclear weapons. But security guarantees must be effective”, – said Poroshenko in an interview with the American channel Fox News, speaking about the U.S. aid to the Ukraine.
Responding to a question about whether he regrets that Ukraine gave up its nuclear Arsenal in 1994, the Ukrainian head of state noted that it is impossible to compare the situation that took place then, with today .
