The foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. Congress reviewed and recommended for approval the draft “Law 2017 on cooperation with Ukraine on issues of cybersecurity”, which highlighted the strategic partnership between Washington and Kyiv, said the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.
“The foreign Affairs Committee of the house of representatives reviewed and recommended for approval the draft “Law 2017 on cooperation with Ukraine on issues of cybersecurity,” reads the message on the page of Embassy on Facebook page on Thursday.
The bill specifies that the policy of the United States is providing assistance to the government of Ukraine in improving their own cyber security strategies . The bill provides for the establishment of the most modern and safe updates on computers of government bodies, including systems, software security, aimed at protecting critical infrastructure of Ukraine; reducing Ukraine’s dependence on Russian technologies; promotion of Ukraine’s participation in the programs of the exchange of information related to cybersecurity and international efforts to combat cyberthreats, and the development of Ukraine’s own capacity in the field of cybersecurity.
However, the document reaffirms the commitment of the United States Charter on strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, the Budapest Memorandum on security assurances, support of cooperation with NATO.
“The implementation of this legislative initiative will be an important contribution to the struggle of Ukraine hybrid war of Russia, continuation and component of which is the implementation of cyber attacks against our country. Co-authors of the document were made by members of the Congress of Ukrainian Cossa, the democratic Congressman B. Boyle and Republican Congressman B. Fitzpatrick,” it is said in the information.
