The Security Council on Friday for the first time adopted a resolution on protecting cultural heritage in armed conflict, the correspondent “of Interfax”.

“Project voted 15 members of the Council. The draft resolution was adopted unanimously” – said by results of voting the Chairperson in March in the security Council, the UK’s permanent representative at the organization of Matthew Rycroft.

Deputy permanent representative of Russia to the UN Eugene zagajnov, speaking on the results of the voting at the security Council meeting, said that “the gains from trade in cultural property remains one of the main sources of financing of ISIS”.

“In the just approved Council resolution (No. 2347) among other things, sets the position of closing under the sanctions of individuals and entities involved in trade in cultural property with the terrorists,” he said .

According to the Russian diplomat, Moscow “calls again upon all States immediately to submit to the Committee SB on sanctions against ISIS and “al-Qaeda” available data about the sources feeding the terrorists, including the acquisition of artifacts from areas controlled by ISIS and “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra” (a terrorist organization banned in Russia – Interfax”.
