The meetings were held in an online format.

On 8 April the UN Security Council in new York (USA) held closed consultations on the occasion of the beginning of the trial in the case of the collapse of the Malaysian Boeing 777 in the sky over the Donbass in 2014.

As reported by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the initiator of the consultations were Russia, writes “Gordon”.

The position of the States – participants of the joint investigative group, which includes Australia, Belgium, Malaysia, Netherlands and Ukraine, represented Belgium.

“The participants of the meeting expressed full support for an independent and impartial process in the District court of the Hague”, – informed the foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

Representation of Belgium to the UN, said on Twitter that the consultations were held in an online format.

In a joint statement the four members of the UN Security Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, and Poland, which joined, stated that the beginning of the trial, “marks an important milestone in establishing the truth and in bringing the perpetrators of the Downing of MH17 to justice”.

“Unfortunately, until now the Russian authorities do not cooperate fully with the independent investigation team. Because the criminal investigation is ongoing, we call upon all States, particularly the Russian Federation, to perform its obligations under resolutions of the UN Security Council 2166 and to cooperate fully with the international investigation,” – said in a statement.

The foreign Ministry of Ukraine informed that the Ukrainian investigators and prosecutors will continue to work in the joint investigation team, and the Ukrainian diplomats will continue to work to attract Russian Federation responsible for a violation of the International Convention for the suppression of the financing of terrorism.
