The UN, 3 may. /TASS/. The UN Security Council of 29 may will hold the first in a year meeting on the situation in Ukraine. This was stated on Thursday to journalists by the permanent representative of Poland to the world organization John Wronecka, presenting the work programme of the SAT in may under the chairmanship of Warsaw.

The diplomat recalled that the last time the Security Council discussed the topic of Ukraine over a year ago, in March 2017. “Poland took the initiative and proposed to hold a debate on Ukraine. It will be held may 29,” – said the diplomat.
According to her, not yet resolved, who will make a presentation at the meeting, and also will there be to discuss some specific issues . “We will prepare for the meeting, there’s still time,” said Wronecka, assuming that Russia at the meeting will focus on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
In March this year Poland and other European countries organized an informal meeting of the Security Council, which was devoted to the Crimea. At the meeting of Ukraine and its allies accused Russia of the annexation of the Peninsula. In turn, the first Deputy permanent representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy said that Russia is proud of held in Crimea in 2014 a referendum, the results of which the Peninsula returned to Russia.
After the coup in February 2014 the new government of Ukraine was unable to obtain the support of all the inhabitants of the country – Donbass were against the rate on the rupture of relations with Russia. For the first time about intention to launch a campaign against the residents of Eastern Ukraine on 7 April 2014, said the then acting President of the country Alexander Turchinov. For suppression of this protest in the region was sent to the army. April 30 of this year the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the end of the so-called anti-terrorist operation in the Donbass and the beginning of the operation of the joint forces. Reformatting is meant to change the organization of control, leaving the command of the armed forces additional authority and control over units of the national guard, the Ukrainian security Service and the police. Commander of the combined forces charged the Lieutenant-General Sergei Nuevo.
Two debates and traditional meeting on Syria
Poland on may 1, has assumed the chairmanship of the UN Security Council. As stated earlier, the foreign Minister of the Republic of Jacek Czaputowicz, during the month in Warsaw offers its partners to focus on issues of compliance with international law.
According to John Branecki, one of the Central events of the Polish presidency will be a debate on 17 may, which will focus on the role of the Security Council in maintaining international law. On 22 may the UN security Council held another debate on the topic of protection of civilians in armed conflict. The session will be present foreign Minister of Poland and President of the International Committee of the red cross (ICRC) Peter Maurer.
During the month of may will continue the discussion of the Syrian subjects. As reported by Wronecka, on 7 may, the security Council will hold a closed meeting to discuss the use of chemical weapons in the conflict in the middle Eastern country, may 16 will be a meeting on a political settlement of the crisis with the participation of the special envoy of the UN Secretary General Staffan de Mistura, and on may 29 will discuss the humanitarian situation in the country.
Meetings on the Iranian issue amid U.S. threats to withdraw from the nuclear deal at the moment is not planned, said the Polish Ambassador. According to her, at the security Council also has no plans to take any of the documents on inter-Korean settlement.
