The UN security Council urged Damascus and the Syrian opposition to resume negotiations without preconditions.
The UN Security Council called on the parties to the conflict in Syria to continue negotiations in a constructive manner and without preconditions, according to RIA Novosti.
“The security Council members expect the resumption of inter-Syrian talks and to urge the Syrian parties to return to negotiations in good faith and in a constructive manner and without preconditions to work on the agenda set by the UN special envoy, when the talks will resume”, – reads the statement of the UN security Council.
Members of the security Council “reaffirmed its commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.”
They noted that the only long-term solution to the conflict will be an inclusive political process led by Syrians themselves .
