The monitoring mission of the UN on human rights in Ukraine is the analytical report “the Responsibility for the murder and violent death on 2 may 2014 in Odessa.”

“Help provides a brief overview of the events in Odessa on 2 may 2014. The clashes in the city centre between groups from which the reference calls “supporters of unity” and “supporters of federalism”, 6 men from both groups received a fatal gunshot wound. On the same day, 42 people (34 men, 7 women and one man) were killed after the riots continued in the Kulikovo field and the House of trade unions caught fire”, – reports a press-service of the Mission on Friday.

The findings presented in the analytical report based on the observations made during the events of may 2, 2014 and the information obtained during visits to places of detention, communication with witnesses, victims and their lawyers, during a trial monitoring and the analysis of court decisions and meetings with representatives of state bodies and regional authorities.

Analytical report provides detailed analysis of investigations and prosecutions in respect of different categories of offenders who were related to murder and violent death of 48 people on 2 may 2014 in Odessa. The document provides an overview of the clashes and acts of killing in the city center, considers the actions of groups between which the collision occurred, which led to the fire in the House of trade unions, as well as the actions of the State service for emergency situations. Furthermore the report analyzes the investigation of actions of police officers during both episodes.

Analytical report will be presented at a press conference in Odessa on Thursday, 2 may 2019, 11:00. A certificate will be presented by the Chairman of the UN Monitoring mission on human rights in Ukraine Fiona Fraser.
