The administration’s position trump
Meanwhile, as reported earlier, information portal BuzzFeed, citing two unnamed diplomatic source, trump said during the June summit of the group of seven in Canada that Crimea is Russian because its inhabitants speak Russian.
Trump also wondered why the leaders of “seven” are on the side of Ukraine. According to sources of BuzzFeed, he added that “Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in the world.”
As noted in the publication, it remains unclear whether these words were said in jest or they were a symptom of a sharp change in foreign policy of the United States.
In addition, soon after coming to power, the administration trump actually publicly admitted the possibility of settlement with Russia disagreement over Crimea without the driver.
In January 2017, Rex Tillerson, speaking at the hearings in the Senate, which was devoted to the consideration of his candidacy for the post of U.S. Secretary of state, signalled the readiness of the administration to trump to recognize the reunification of the Crimea with Russia if the situation around the Peninsula will be resolved acceptable to Ukraine. “The only way by which it (recognition – approx. TASS) can occur is the development of a broader agreement that would satisfy the Ukrainian people,” – said Tillerson.
