– I don’t think I have much of anything to say after what happened today, when most people voted and chose me. This is a victory for all the people who choose their own path no matter what threats, fear, violence, pressure. Choose evolution choose in the end 2018 year, which is in the yard! You know, the Israeli selection lasted six months, it was actually a reality show. I went there as an independent musician, who has his own cockroaches in the head. Do not expect to win, because I’m too avant-garde, I was making music with loops, which to me nobody in Israel did, at least on television in Prime time. We decided, okay, show off a little, once the opportunity had. And when he won the selection, I never expected to see, at first, of course, was hard. But then I realized that you can do now something very important to many people, to show, to prove to them that you can not be afraid to be completely different, not to complex, and be proud and be accepted. Now it becomes the main purpose of all my work and creativity.
– A few days before the final official LGBT community of Eurovision fans have awarded you their traditional music award OUTtv. You voted for thousands of people throughout Europe who have recognized your talent and you as its Ambassador, which acts to support and protect those people who are “different.” They probably also have now something to say?
– Yes, actually most of my team are the same people. And this great people! They cared for me, protected me, helped, and nurtured, they were my support all this the really hard way. They are part of this community. Without them I would have achieved nothing, were nothing – without their energy, optimism, joy. I will have them and sing to them my whole life. And of course I will be there for the next Pride and Love Parade in tel Aviv. All this is not a message that I carry to somewhere or someone. It’s my nature, my state of mind and Outlook on life. All of this sounds in my song: be as you are, no matter what, listening to yourself, do not be afraid.
– A simple question: how did you feel today when they realized that victory is not just in the national selection, and the whole “Eurovision”?
– I went black in the eyes! Literally! Some men in black was sitting opposite me in Grinzane and suddenly yelled, “What? Why? How? Where Is Sweden?…” And I sit, popping eyes and not understand.
