The working group on missing persons and hostages has discussed the main provisions of the draft law “On social and legal protection of persons deprived of their liberty as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine”, developed by the Ministry of veterans Affairs, the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons.
As reported on the official website of the head of state on Friday, the latest meeting was held in the Office of the President.
“In particular, the working group discussed the features of work of the interdepartmental Commission, which will establish the fact of the capture of man and his liberation. This will depend on the provision of certain guarantees and benefits of this category of citizens. The participants also discussed the provision of medical care, rehabilitation, tax incentives and legal protection of the hostages since the beginning of their unlawful detention”, – is spoken in the message.
As noted by the lawyer of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union on human rights Maxim Tymochko, the bill is aimed, in particular, on the equal social rights of civilian hostages and the military. “The military provide better. All hostages and prisoners should provide, as in the case with the Ukrainian sailors. It was an adequate reaction to the seizure of a person adequate help. Why hasn’t this been done for all other Ukrainian hostages and prisoners – I do not know”, – he stressed.
In the working group, attended by the relatives of the missing and hostages, representatives of the President’s Office, public associations of the Ministry of defence, Ministry of social policy, the Ministry of veterans Affairs, the temporarily occupied territories and internally displaced persons in Ukraine.
