The US President promised “to make Iran great again”.

The US is preparing to impose significant additional sanctions against Iran to stop development of its nuclear program, said President Donald trump, reports the BBC.

“We are introducing additional sanctions. In some cases we act quickly,” he said. What are the new sanctions, trump said.

“If Iran wants to be a rich country, […] I do not mind. But this will not happen if they continue to try to get through five or six years a nuclear weapon,” he added.

“Let’s again make Iran great,” concluded trump.

President linked the new sanctions with the decisions of Iranian leaders regarding the country’s nuclear program. 17 June, Tehran announced that it would exceed the limit on the amount of enriched uranium, which he is allowed to keep under an international agreement in 2015.

About a month earlier, Iran warned that it will increase production of enriched uranium.

This happened amid growing tension between the two countries. Four days before this statement, the United States accused Iran in the attack on two tankers in the Gulf of Oman. Tehran denies the charges.

Last Thursday, the Islamic revolutionary guards Corps of Iran, which the U.S. considers a terrorist organization, has announced that it shot down a us drone. Later, the United States confirmed the loss of the RQ-4 Global Hawk.

The next day, the New York Times, citing sources in the White house wrote that trump after the loss of the drone gave the military the order to begin preparations for missile and air strikes on Iranian targets, but at the last moment changed his mind.

On Sunday, trump said that he was misunderstood. “I did not cancel the strike on Iran, but only postponed it,” wrote the U.S. President in his “Twitter”.
