American President Donald trump in the process of selection of candidates for the post of national security adviser held a White house meeting with the US special envoy on Affairs of hostages Robert O’brien, reports the American edition of the Wahington Post.

O’brien has diplomatic, military and business experience, and maintains good relationships with colleagues at the state Department and the Pentagon that points to him as the “safe choice”, the newspaper said.

“In the White house want to be a team player,” a source told The Washington Post, noting that O’brien characterized as “nice behavior” in comparison with the sacked John Bolton, known as “ruthless bureaucrat-bureaucrat”.

Candidate O’brien supports and one of the most trusted advisers of the trump in the field of international relations – Secretary of state Mike Pompeo. Besides him, the head of American diplomacy spoke in support of two candidates – the current special U.S. envoy on Iran, Brian hook, and the assistant to the head of the joint chiefs of staff Ricky waddel.

O’brien has not commented on the appointment, the newspaper said.
