According to him, after commencement of visa-free regime of Ukraine with the EU has significantly increased the number of those wishing to obtain biometric passports from Crimea and the territory of the occupied Donbas .
“At the same time, having access to the archives, which remained in the occupied territories, there is a danger that under the guise of Ukrainian citizens from the occupied territories, access to visa-free regime to the citizens of another country, terrorists or the Russian secret services,” – said Turchinov.
According to him, “that’s why to prevent this you need to make changes to existing legislation that will allow for a very thorough check of citizens who arrived from the occupied territories to obtain a biometric passport. In the case of inconsistencies in the data presented, such citizens should not be permitted to receive biometric passports”.
For this reason, the Secretary of the national security Council held a meeting with the heads of the interior Ministry, Migration service, security service, border guards, and the like.
He said that for the legal resolution of this issue was a draft bill, “which is developed by people’s deputies-members of the coalition and will soon be introduced in Parliament”.
“However, it is important to take this necessary for the security of Ukraine and Europe, the law is still before the next break,” – said Turchinov.
