The United States will not participate in the creation of “security zone” in Syria

No American troops will not be involved in the creation of a “security zone”, but the United States hopes that Turkey will abide by the agreement.

The US military will not take part in the creation of the so-called “security zone” in Northern Syria. This was stated by Minister of defense mark Esper, Reuters reports on Friday, October 17.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey will create a post for observation across the Northern part of Syria. He noted that plans to create a “security zone”.

“No American ground troops will not participate in the creation of a “security zone”, however we will maintain contact with Turkey and the Syrian democratic forces,” said Esper.

The Minister of defense said that Turkey should respect the agreement on cease-fire and provide security for people in areas controlled by the Turkish forces.

The Turkish army on 9 October began operation of the Source of peace in Syria against the self-defense forces of Syrian Kurds (YPG), which Ankara considers an ally of the outlawed Turkey Kurdistan workers ‘ party (PKK).

Two days before the U.S. announced the withdrawal of its military from the border areas of Turkey and Syria, thus opening the way for Ankara to attack.

Turkey intends to establish in Northern regions of Syria along its borders the so-called safety zone, cleansed from the self-defense forces of Syrian Kurds and the militants of terrorist groups, and to settle there up to two million Syrian refugees that are now in Turkey.
