News of Ukraine: Ukrainian and Moldovan parliamentarians have held a meeting in Odessa.

Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Parliament of Moldova held in Odessa, the meeting of the Interparliamentary group of friendship “Ukraine-Moldova” in the framework of which discussed the issues of information security, electoral reform, implementation of the law on education and the situation on the Moldovan-Ukrainian border.

This was informed in a press-service of Parliament of Moldova.

“With the signing of another eight protocols on the introduction of joint control at the Moldovan-Ukrainian checkpoint (on the Transnistrian segment of the border) we hope to support our Ukrainian colleagues”, – said the Deputy of Parliament of Moldova Eugen, Nikiforuk .

Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Pavel Unguryan drew the attention of the Moldovan colleagues on the experience of Ukraine in countering the information war, and Russian propaganda.

In turn, the Ukrainian deputies expressed the hope that Moldova’s transition to a mixed system of parliamentary elections will allow to establish closer contact between MPs and voters.

The Deputy of Parliament of Moldova Violeta Ivanov thanked the Ukrainian side for supporting Moldova in the adoption of UN resolutions on unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from the Transnistrian region.

With regard to the implementation of the Ukrainian law on education, the MPs assured their Moldovan colleagues that the rights of national minorities living in Ukraine, will be complied in strict accordance with international standards.

A regular meeting of the inter-parliamentary group of friendship “Ukraine-Moldova” will take place this fall.
