Ukraine in 2018, financed from the state budget 163 organ transplants abroad and 110 bone marrow transplants carried out by Ukrainian patients.

These data led the Chairman of the Subcommittee on transplantation and advanced medical technologies of the parliamentary Committee on health, health care and health insurance Oksana Dmitriev during the “round table” in Kyiv on Tuesday.

She recalled that in General these operations in 2018 has been allocated 600 million UAH of budgetary funds.

“With the proper working of the system of transplantation in Ukraine for these funds it would be possible to treat a few thousand people,” – said Dmitriev.

According to her, in Ukraine annually need transplantation of organs for health reasons about 5 thousand people, but in fact is not more than 130 transplants per year. Meanwhile, Ukraine occupies one of last places in Europe on indicators of post-mortem organ donation. So, in 2019 in the country there was never a single cadaveric transplantation.

In turn, the head of the profile Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Mikhail radutsky stated the absence in Ukraine of transplantation, which is one of the priorities.

The Minister of health Skalecka Zorian, for his part, noted the need for funding of patients in need of transplants abroad, because funds budgeted for this year has already been used.

She also stressed the need for a more efficient use of public resources, including through the development of domestic Transplantology.

Head of the Department of bone marrow transplantation and intensive chemotherapy and immunotherapy hospital “OKHMATDYT”, Alexander Fox reminded that today is bone marrow transplantation from an unrelated donor is only possible abroad. At the same time conducting such operations in Ukraine would reduce the cost by more than 30%.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the Program of his activities one of the priorities called the creation of the conditions for the development of the transplant that will allow, at least 30% of the Ukrainian patients who had been receiving services at the transplant abroad, to their homeland.

The program “Treatment of Ukrainian citizens abroad” in the state budget 2019 laid 689,9 million UAH, of which 608 million UAH have already sent for treatment.

Sending patients who applied for participation in the program after July 2, will be possible from 2020 and to be at the expense of the state budget in 2020.
