A Ukrainian court has verified the legitimacy of the actions of military prosecutors and investigators of the security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in a July 25 in the port of Izmail (Odessa region) search Russian tanker Nika Spirit (formerly Neyma), and put him under arrest and seized during searches of documents, said the chief military Prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios.
“By results of consideration of the corresponding petition with the court seized the ship along with the seized during the search of documents. We did it. To the point!” – Matios wrote on his page on the social network Facebook on Tuesday afternoon.
The chief military Prosecutor of Ukraine also called the false Russian media disseminated information about the alleged unlawful conduct by law enforcement officers of Ukraine investigative actions on the ship without the permission of the Consul of the Russian Federation.
“Tell the ship after passing of border and customs control on the territory of Ukraine shall be considered as having an open border. In accordance with the provisions of existing international treaties, ratified by Russia and Ukraine, the necessity of obtaining the consent or permission of the representative of the diplomatic mission or consular post of a foreign state to carry out on the territory of Ukraine investigative actions on sea or river transport is not provided. We did it legally. Point”, – said Matios.
As reported, on 25 July, the SBU investigators and military prosecutors detained a Russian tanker Neyma, which blocked the Ukrainian military ships in the Kerch Strait in November 2018.
According to intelligence agencies, on July 24 in the port of Izmail (Odessa region) under the flag of Russia came tanker Nika Spirit. The investigation found that the Russian owners after the incident in the Kerch Strait have changed the name of the tanker Neyma on Nika Spirit.
Later in the SBU said that investigations are not recorded violations of the law of the Sea and laws of Ukraine by the crew of the detained Russian tanker “Neyma” and, therefore, grounds for the detention of the sailors was not.
All members of the crew of a Russian tanker has returned to Krasnodar.
