TASS, may 29. The United States demanded an emergency meeting of the UN security Council in connection with the shelling of Israel from Gaza. This was reported Tuesday on Twitter the U.S. mission to the headquarters of the United Nations in new York.

“Today, the United States requested an emergency UN security Council meeting to discuss the latest attacks by Hamas and other militants into Israel from the Gaza strip. We expect that the meeting will be held tomorrow in the afternoon”, – stated in the message .

For Tuesday from the Gaza strip were fired at Israel the largest number of rockets and mortar shells in one day in the summer of 2014, when Gaza military operation “Indestructible rock”. According to the Israeli military, Palestinian radicals fired into the Jewish state about fifty rockets and missiles, resulting in injuring three soldiers.

In response, Israeli aircraft struck dozens of objects of radical organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the Gaza strip. According to the Israeli army, for Tuesday was already attacked at least 35 belonging to these groups of targets in the Palestinian coastal enclave.
