YAKUTSK, on may 9. /TASS/. The celebration of Victory Day in the capital of Yakutia began in Victory square, where thousands of local residents and city guests came to honor the memory of heroes who died during the great Patriotic war. The solemn event was opened by a minute of silence, the correspondent of TASS.

Participants of festive events laid wreaths and flowers to the monument to the liberators in the memory of the heroes of the front and rear, countrymen who died on the battlefields of the great Patriotic war. Of the more than 60 thousand called to the front of the inhabitants of Yakutia half fell on the battlefields.

The celebration of the great Victory in the capital of Yakutia continued military-Patriotic parade, which was attended by veterans of war and home, law enforcement officers and law enforcement agencies, and also cadets of military educational institutions of the region.

“Yakutians heroically showed themselves on all fronts. Defended Moscow and Stalingrad, broke through the siege of Leningrad, participated in the battle at the Kursk bulge… Soldiers from Yakutia showed themselves as experienced spies, sappers, gunners, snipers. During the war 25 of the inhabitants of Yakutia was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, tens of thousands were awarded orders and medals”, – said the head of the Republic Egor Borisov welcomed the participants of the parade.

Despite the cloudy and cool weather, thousands of people took part in the action “Immortal regiment”.
