The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky expressed condolences to the families and friends of those killed in the fire at the Odessa hotel and promised a just punishment for those guilty in the tragedy.

“Odessa. “Tokyo Star”. Night, we lost eight lives. Ten people were injured, four of them in critical condition. And it’s not because of the war and shelling. But because of criminal negligence and disregard of elementary norms of fire safety, due to the neglect of human life. This will come to an end,” he wrote on his page on the social network Facebook on Saturday.

Zelensky said that the responsibility will be borne not only by those who are directly responsible for the fire. “Answer Vadim Black, owner of the so-called hotel,” the President promised.

He also noted that he would personally ensure that the punishment meets the standards of the law and “demands of justice” because it is impossible to put private profit above human life.

Zelensky expressed sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victims.

“Thanks to the rescuers and police. Special thanks to Odessa, who sheltered and rescued the guests of the “hotel,” wrote the President.

As reported, in Odessa in the night of Saturday, August 17, there was a fire in hotel “Old Tokyo” in str, 1 in which killed eight people, another 10 people were injured. According to the information SSES, among the victims there are people in serious condition. Information on whether there are children among the dead or injured during the fire at the moment.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman instructed to immediately begin large-scale inspections of places of recreation of citizens, especially hotels and resorts.

In the Unified register of pretrial investigations included information under part 2 of article 270 (violation established by the legislation of fire safety requirements) of the Criminal code of Ukraine.
