The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has signed the decree “On additional measures to improve the state of storage of missiles, ammunition and products of their recycling at the arsenals, bases and warehouses of the Armed forces of Ukraine”, according to the website of the head of state on Monday.

According to the decree, the General staff of the armed forces, the Head of state set the task to raise standards to NATO level of safety of arsenals, bases and warehouses of storage of weapons. The General staff also need to properly organize the protection and defense of the arsenals, bases and warehouses of the APU and result in compliance with the requirements of the scope and procedure for the maintenance of stocks of materiel at these stores.

The defense Ministry is tasked to strengthen control over the reconstruction of the technical areas of the stockpiles to ensure the establishment of a comprehensive system of monitoring of potentially dangerous military facilities. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should Finance measures to ensure the survivability and fire and explosion safety of arsenals, bases and warehouses of arms, rockets and ammunition of the APU, as well as to settle the question of a special regime of land use around potentially dangerous military facilities of the armed forces.

The decree comes into force from the date of its publication.

Earlier, on October 31, Parliament adopted the decree “On formation of the Temporary investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada concerning investigation of fires (explosions) on the ammunition depots in the town of Ichnya (Chernihiv region), g. Kalinovka (Vinnitsa region), g. Balakleya (Kharkiv region), Svatovo (Lugansk region), Krivoy Rog (Dnepropetrovsk region) in the period from 2014 to 2018”. It was headed by the leader of the “servant of the people” David Arakhamiya.
