The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the course of a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Germany to politically assist in the investigation of the crash of the Ukrainian aircraft company “Ukraine International airlines” (UIA) in Iran, the press service of the President’s Office.

“The President expects effective investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the crash of the aircraft of Ukrainian airlines, as well as compensation to the families of the victims and to the carrier company. The President has called on Germany to politically facilitate this process”, – stated in the message.

In addition, Zelensky said that from the first days on the scene working group of Ukrainian experts. Now in Iran are those of them who are engaged in the identification and repatriation of the bodies, and “black boxes”.

In turn, Merkel has expressed condolences in connection with accident of the Ukrainian plane in Iran. The President expressed gratitude for the words of support and Germany’s willingness to interact for the sake of an open and impartial investigation of the disaster.

As reported, a passenger plane UIA Boeing 737-800, the airline “MAU”, which was to perform flight PS752 on the route Tehran – Kiev crashed near the international airport. Imam Khomeini in Tehran immediately after takeoff early on the morning of 8 January. On Board were 167 passengers and nine crew members. They all died. Among the victims were 11 citizens of Ukraine (among them nine members of the crew), 82 citizens of Iran, 63 Canada, 10 – Sweden, four from Afghanistan, three to Germany and the UK.

The Iranian authorities on 11 January acknowledged that Boeing was shot down by mistake by the Iranian military. Later, the Commander of aerospace forces of Islamic revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Amir Ali Hajizadeh said that he takes full responsibility for the Downing of the Ukrainian plane.
